Prep before you party
Before you break out the snacks and party games, make sure you’ve done everything you can to prepare. This includes helping your family members or neighbors that can’t get ready by themselves. Check out our Hurricane Prep Guide for some great reminders to make sure you are hurricane ready.
Invite people you enjoy spending lots of time around
Who knows how long you’ll be in a house with these people. Worst case scenario is that you’re crammed together with no power and air conditioning for a few days. Things might get a little sweaty and smelly, so choose wisely!
Crank down the AC while you still have power
Make the cool temperature last longer by cooling your house as low as it can go before you lose power. You and your guests will appreciate the cold air before the hot days ahead.
Prioritize water, but don’t forget the other drinks
Once you’re stocked up on water, make sure you grab your drink(s) of choice to get the party started! Remember to grab some ice – it may come in handy later!
Provide charging stations for all devices
Break out all your power strips so your guests will have a place to charge their devices while they party. You’ll want a fully charged phone for the hours without power. To go the extra mile, get a few portable chargers that you can have fully charged for use when the electricity goes out.
Choose entertainment that doesn’t require electricity
Watch all the TV/movies you can while you still have power. After it goes out, make sure you have enough playing cards, board games, darts or whatever else they used to do for fun in the days before television. Don’t let the loss of power stop the party!
