Question?

Have you been putting off upgrading your hurricane protection because you feel confident in the gamble that a storm is not going to impact you, your family, or your property? Armor Screen gets it, but we would just like to point out that, according to a recent article from Colorado State University, this year’s hurricane season is expected to be above average yet again.

It’s easy to get caught up in everything COVID-related, but the 2020 Atlantic Hurricane Season, which marked the fifth consecutive year of above average activity, was the most active and the fifth costliest Atlantic hurricane season on record. Last year also saw the highest accumulated
cyclone energy (ACE) since 2017, and the 10th highest on record (tied with 1998). 2020 featured
a total of 31 subtropical cyclones, all but one of which became a named storm. Of the 30 named storms, 13 developed into hurricanes, with 6 intensifying into “major” hurricanes, while one (Hurricane Iota) reached Category 5 status.

11 of the 30 named storms made landfall in the U.S., breaking the record of nine set back in 1916. And they are once again predicting another year of above normal tropical activity in the Atlantic Basin. Bottom line: the experts at Colorado State University anticipate a nearly 70% chance of a major (Category 3 or above) hurricane landfall in the continental United States this year.

But while the busiest months of Hurricane Season are on the verge of being released like your favorite streaming service show’s new season, you still have time to get ready for the next big calamity.
